Florida Men?s Health Center Introduces A New Approach To Testosterone in Men That Is Now Supported by The American Urological Association

Florida Men’s Health Center Introduces A New Approach To Testosterone in Men That Is Now Supported by The American Urological Association

Low Testosterone Medicine

Miami, Florida (PRWEB) August 16, 2011

Florida Men’s Health Center is a men’s medical clinic and center for urology addressing and treating numerous types of men’s health issues while focusing primarily on Erectile Dysfunction. For testosterone in men of all ages, it is encouraged to test their testosterone levels and now provide a boost testosterone supplement for those in need. The test checks for hormone and androgen in the blood. Dr. Liron Beltzer, Medical Director of Florida Men’s Health Center believes that testosterone plays a critical role in setting the pace for a man’s sex drive and sexual experience. Recently, The American Urological Association (AUA) supports that men experience a natural and expected decline in testosterone as they age which can cause libido to fade. There are numerous factors that can work against sexual desire as midlife approaches. Men should certainly consider their testosterone as a mean of prohibiting their sex life.

Testosterone levels peak in the mid-20s for both men and woman. For men, testosterone levels then start to decrease by approximately 1% per year after age 30 and then drop more rapidly as they approach older age and into their 70s. Luckily, appropriate treatment such as testosterone replacement treatment can help restore the hormone to a level that will set in motion the sexual accelerator. Different treatments include topical gels, patches, injections and low testosterone medicine. Dr. Beltzer, at his Miami health center, adds that “unfortunately, testosterone treatment has been misrepresented and too often altered which can lead to money spent without reaching good results as well as posing actual health risks for some.” There are many advertisers, infomercials and herbal remedy alternatives spread throughout the Internet that offer anti-aging and sexual benefits of testosterone treatments. Dr. Beltzer advises patients to view these claims with caution and skepticism. Men need to make sure that they are seen by a physician and be supervised throughout the course of treatment. There’s even a great importance as to what time of the day the blood was drawn in order to reach an accurate diagnosis (in men, testosterone levels peak in the morning). Men also need to take into account that fatigue, erectile dysfunction, decreased libido and weight gain could be originating from a different underlying pathology which is not related to testosterone (although symptoms are the same) and should be further investigated by a physician in order to be ruled out or to be treated if and when necessary.

As men age erectile dysfunction also becomes more common. Drugs such as Viagra (sildenafil citrate) are often prescribed and can help men achieve and maintain an adequate erection for sexual activity. It was recently suggested that even the use of the well-known Viagra might not be fully beneficial for patients whose testosterone levels are low. Viagra does not produce an instant erection; sexual stimulation is needed in order to achieve the erection. In addition, Viagra does not have any effect on libido. Dr. Beltzer advises that patients with low testosterone who seek appropriate treatment consult with a Sexual Health specialist to determine the best approach.

Dr. Beltzer also emphasizes that other factors such as sleep deprivation, stress, obesity and cardiovascular disease should not be disregarded when trying to restore or keep up sex drive. These are all aspects that with no question have an effect on sexual and overall health. Studies have proven that having a healthy sex life can improve health and wellbeing. Sex is not only for the young and beautiful! The necessity for intimacy is ageless, and sex can remain just as pleasurable and satisfying.

Both men and women should take initiative to reclaim and improve their sex life since it is a key for a healthy relationship as well as for general, physical and emotional health.

In addition, a new study suggested that testosterone may improve sexual function in certain women. Although testosterone is considered to be a male hormone it is also produced by women and starts to decline with menopause. Some researchers are suggesting that replacing it may also help improve a women’s sexual function. The FDA (Food and Drug Administration) has not yet approved any testosterone treatment for women however there are currently ongoing clinical trials.

Visit Florida Men’s Health Center for more information or call and schedule an appointment with Dr. Beltzer today.

Riverview Psychiatric Center Subscribes to Advanced Technology for Patient Safety and Cost Containment

Riverview Psychiatric Center Subscribes to Advanced Technology for Patient Safety and Cost Containment

(PRWEB) January 26, 2005

Lewiston, Maine (PRWEB) January 26, 2005 – Riverview Psychiatric Center subscribed to Saferating’s Paperless Form technology for its two ambulatory clinics in Augusta and Portland, Maine. Staff now has instant web access for secure recording the receipt of sample medications received from pharmaceutical sales representatives. Regulations from both state and JCAHO require that if samples are utilized for patient care, then a method to log incoming samples must be kept. The required documentation must include lot and expiration dates for the sample drugs. Furthermore, upon dispensing the samples, the outgoing samples must be labeled by a licensed prescriber with the information typically supplied by a retail pharmacy.

RPS staff will now utilize Saferating’s PFT and a custom form to log incoming samples, and a second form which will supply staff with both a label-like document and a documented note for the patient’s medical record. Administrators will have secure access to databases for tracking and real time access in the event of a drug recall. Follow-up and analysis will utilize Saferating’s powerful query engine and report generator to enhance its system improvement and contribute to compliance with HIPAA and JCAHO standards.

Because Saferating’s PFT forms are intuitive, yet thorough, it is expected that this new technology will save extensive labor hours and the associated costs. Riverview Psychiatric Center is proud to take this step in patient safety, reporting enhancement, and cost containment. Learn more at http://www.Saferating.com

About Saferating Inc

About Riverview Psychiatric Center

RPC (formerly Augusta Mental Health Institute). In 1834 the Maine Legislature passed a resolve to establish the Maine Insane Hospital and appropriated $ 20,000 for this purpose.

The hospital was built across the river from the Capitol building. The reason for this was so that the Governor and the Legislature would never forget the hospital. Today the State of Maine has built a 92-bed civil and forensic psychiatric treatment facility to replace the existing 161-year-old state hospital, the Augusta Mental Health Institute (AMHI). The new facility opened in late 2004. The new facility, Riverview Psychiatric Center, offers a state-of-the-art treatment environment that supports healing, respect, and safety.

Illinois Center for Pancreatic and Hepatobiliary Diseases Provides Hope for Cancer Patients

Illinois Center for Pancreatic and Hepatobiliary Diseases Provides Hope for Cancer Patients

Expertise is what matters in treating pancreatic cancer, according to Dr. Malcolm Bilimoria, director of the new Illinois Center for Pancreatic and Hepatobiliary Diseases at Northwest Community Hospital in Arlington Heights.

Arlington Heights, IL (PRWEB) November 2, 2009

Recently opened, the new Illinois Center for Pancreatic and Hepatobiliary Diseases at Northwest Community Hospital in the Chicago suburb of Arlington Heights is already on track to do more than 100 pancreatic surgeries this year. This is significant to patients seeking treatment of the disease because studies have shown that doctors and hospitals that care for large numbers of people with pancreatic cancer most often provide the best quality care.

“Expertise is what matters in treating the disease,” said Dr. Malcolm Bilimoria, director of the center. He cites a study published in the New England Journal of Medicine in 2003 that shows mortality rates were lower for high-volume surgeons. That result is particularly true with regard to pancreatic surgeries.

Out of the several methods of treatment for people with pancreatic cancer, Dr. Bilimoria is an expert in the Whipple procedure, considered one of the most complex surgeries, second only to organ transplants. The Whipple procedure can increase survival and offers a real chance at a cure for many pancreatic cancer patients.

“Surgery to remove a tumor offers the best chance for long-term control of all types of pancreatic cancer,” Dr. Bilimoria said.

As a surgical oncologist who specializes in pancreatic and hepatobiliary surgeries, Dr. Bilimoria has averaged 50 to 75 Whipple surgeries per year over the past decade, compared to many surgeons who may perform only 10 a year.

At the Illinois Center for Pancreatic and Hepatobiliary Diseases, Dr. Bilimoria is part of a multidisciplinary team of pancreatic experts that includes board-certified surgeons, radiation oncologists, pathologists, endocrinologists and gastroenterologists. Furthermore, patients receive the support of a nurse navigator, physician assistant, social worker and nutritionists.

Pancreatic cancer is the fourth-leading cause of cancer death, and is considered one of the deadliest cancers. This year, the American Cancer Society estimates there will be approximately 42,500 new cases of pancreatic cancer and about 35,000 deaths from the disease.
