Rising Star in Advanced Dentistry Dr. Sabrina Magid, DMD, Chosen as One of Westchester Magazine’s Top 22 People to Watch in Westchester County in 2012

Dr. Sabrina Magid of Advanced Dentistry of Westchester

Harrison, NY (PRWEB) January 17, 2012

Dr. Sabrina Magid has been named by Westchester Magazine as one of the top 22 people to watch in the County in 2012. To the generations of patients who have long relied on the stellar care and expertise at Advanced Dentistry of Westchester (ADofW) Dr. Sabrina Magid’s recent award as one of Westchester Magazine’s top movers and shakers to watch in the county should come as no surprise.

“I am very honored to be singled out by Westchester Magazine to receive this award! I believe I received this award for all the dentists that are improving the lives of patients every day. As a practice, Advanced Dentistry of Westchester has incorporated the latest advances in patient care to provide healthy, beautiful smiles, while contributing to our patients’ overall health. Our efforts in the screening and treatment for obstructive sleep apnea and other health problems have greatly enhanced the quality of life for many people,” said Dr. Sabrina Magid.

At only 29, Dr. Magid’s expertise in the dental field is extensive. While at The University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine, Dr. Magid treated patients in the remote and underserved villages of Nicaragua and Costa Rica. Throughout her schooling and dental career, she has been committed to addressing the needs of deaf and hard-of-hearing patients. During high school, she took American Sign Language courses at the New York School for the Deaf, and at Duke University, she initiated and taught an introductory class on ASL and Deaf culture. She has acted as a mentor to other dentists, young and old, in sharing the need for sensitivity in their approach to treating deaf patients.

Dr. Magid is quite accomplished as a young woman in the field. She is the recipient of the prestigious “Robert Seminara Resident of the Year” award for “excellence in General Dentistry and outstanding service as a PGY1 Dental Resident” from NY Presbyterian-Methodist Hospital. She is also a member of the American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine, the American Dental Association, and a founding member of the American Academy for Oral Systemic Health. Dr. Magid has lectured to dental societies around the state on the dentist’s role in the diagnosis and treatment of obstructive sleep apnea (OSA). “Dentists are in a unique position to screen for and treat this widespread problem,” said Magid.

Dr. Magid is focused on the future of dentistry and the “whole body” dentist approach. “We were one of the first practices in the country to use digital X-ray, which is more diagnostic than film with far less radiation. Today, along with digital X-ray, we use a tiny laser and camera to diagnose dental decay long before it is seen by other means–allowing us to treat conservatively.” ADofW was also the first practice to use the VELscope device to prevent oral cancer which was featured on Dr. Oz and NBC’s “The Doctors.” Along with offering laser treatment and “air abrasion” as minimally invasive technique for fillings, Dr. Magid, and her partner in the practice Dr. Kenneth Magid, employ a CAD CAM laser/software system for more complex work involving crowns and bonding. ADW plans to expand the use of this state-of-the-art technology for immediately replacing teeth considered unrestorable. For more information on Dr. Sabrina Magid, please visit http://www.adofw.com/

Riverview Psychiatric Center Subscribes to Advanced Technology for Patient Safety and Cost Containment

Riverview Psychiatric Center Subscribes to Advanced Technology for Patient Safety and Cost Containment

(PRWEB) January 26, 2005

Lewiston, Maine (PRWEB) January 26, 2005 – Riverview Psychiatric Center subscribed to Saferating’s Paperless Form technology for its two ambulatory clinics in Augusta and Portland, Maine. Staff now has instant web access for secure recording the receipt of sample medications received from pharmaceutical sales representatives. Regulations from both state and JCAHO require that if samples are utilized for patient care, then a method to log incoming samples must be kept. The required documentation must include lot and expiration dates for the sample drugs. Furthermore, upon dispensing the samples, the outgoing samples must be labeled by a licensed prescriber with the information typically supplied by a retail pharmacy.

RPS staff will now utilize Saferating’s PFT and a custom form to log incoming samples, and a second form which will supply staff with both a label-like document and a documented note for the patient’s medical record. Administrators will have secure access to databases for tracking and real time access in the event of a drug recall. Follow-up and analysis will utilize Saferating’s powerful query engine and report generator to enhance its system improvement and contribute to compliance with HIPAA and JCAHO standards.

Because Saferating’s PFT forms are intuitive, yet thorough, it is expected that this new technology will save extensive labor hours and the associated costs. Riverview Psychiatric Center is proud to take this step in patient safety, reporting enhancement, and cost containment. Learn more at http://www.Saferating.com

About Riverview Psychiatric Center

RPC (formerly Augusta Mental Health Institute). In 1834 the Maine Legislature passed a resolve to establish the Maine Insane Hospital and appropriated $ 20,000 for this purpose.

The hospital was built across the river from the Capitol building. The reason for this was so that the Governor and the Legislature would never forget the hospital. Today the State of Maine has built a 92-bed civil and forensic psychiatric treatment facility to replace the existing 161-year-old state hospital, the Augusta Mental Health Institute (AMHI). The new facility opened in late 2004. The new facility, Riverview Psychiatric Center, offers a state-of-the-art treatment environment that supports healing, respect, and safety.

Dallas, TX (Vocus/PRWEB) February 24, 2011

Methodist Dallas Medical Center, Methodist Charlton Medical Center and Methodist Richardson Medical Center recently received Advanced Certification as Primary Stroke Centers following on-site certification reviews from the Joint Commission, which accredits and certifies more than 18,000 health care organizations and programs in the United States. The Joint Commission’s Certificate of Distinction for Primary Stroke Centers recognizes centers that make exceptional efforts to improve outcomes for stroke patients. This designation signifies that Methodist Dallas, Methodist Charlton and Methodist Richardson have met the standards which recognize these hospitals are optimally prepared to provide the highest level of quality care to stroke patients.

“My congratulations to everyone at the Methodist Dallas campus for dedication to patient care, quality service, and a sense of ownership for the performance of our hospital which earned this recognition as an outstanding health care provider and this certification of distinction,” says Michael A. Mayo, president of Methodist Dallas Medical Center.

Methodist Charlton President Jonathan Davis thanked the Methodist Charlton staff for all their dedication and teamwork to improve and save lives through compassionate quality health care for the community. “I am truly proud and honored to work with so many talented individuals,” he says.

“We are proud to offer advanced stroke care to the greater Richardson community,” says Methodist Richardson President Kenneth Hutchenrider, Jr. “This advanced certification confirms the high level of care we offer to our patients every day.”
